March Book Club: Across the Universe by Beth Revis

Hello, my beautiful young Adulters! I am so pleased to announce (late, my bad) that our book club selection for March is Across the Universe by Beth Revis. This is something that is totally different from anything we have read so far (cryogenically frozen people?! spaceships?! murder?!), and I can’t wait to dive in!

One of the responses that I received to my book club survey (which you can find here if you haven’t done it yet) was that it would be nice to have a place to comment on and discuss the book as we are all reading it, not just at the end of the month. So this is an experiment: I am going to post an announcement post at the beginning of each month, where you all can talk about your thoughts and experience of the book as you read it, as well as a discussion post at the end of each month, and we’ll see how it goes! Let me know what you think of it, and happy reading! 🙂

Lets get this new idea of Jessica’s started. Here’s some thoughts to kick it off. What do you think?
I am only on page 170 so it’ll be interesting to see what happens moving on.

Doc – i’m starting to like him, I think.

Eldest – not my favorite person ever, he’s definitely hiding some things and their just getting in the way.

Elder – it will be interesting to see where his character goes, he’s in-between the old and the new. Which way will he go?

Amy – really enjoyed the different perspective she’s brought (so far) to the overall picture of the Godspeed ship. Her view point is different and refreshing.

Orion – who is this person? i’m intrigued to know his story and have a few thoughts. He’s the “dead” Elder, he’s not the “dead” Elder but know who is or still follows his beliefs. Doc seemed nervous of him or familiar or something so that’s something to consider. He may be the ones unplugging the frozen. But he also seems to be more caring than that.

Harley – I love his creative, uniqueness and his straight up acceptance of Amy, Elder and everything going on.
